So I’ll never forget a passing comment that a friend of mine made whilst we were on tour…
We were due to do a workout, and I just by default went: “yep and then we can have lunch as a reward”
His response was… “you do that a lot don’t you?”
I didn’t understand what he meant at first but it was from that moment that I realised I use little rewards throughout my day to almost trick myself into doing things I might not feel very motivated to do! And man does it work?! (for me)!
- So my reward for walking daily is I get to listen to an audiobook
- I get to have a sweet treat at the end of a workday (even if I’ve accomplished something very small.
- For finishing a recording project, I reward myself with a long hot bath!
- My reward for finishing a new project, like creating an online course, is a mini holiday!
Tricking myself into doing these things works for me, have you tried rewarding yourself?
