Imposter Syndrome

I need to start out by saying:

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

I don’t think I know any individual that doesn’t suffer from feeling like an imposter to some degree at some point in their life.

I know I do, and probably more often than you’d imagine!

So if I’m having a really bad day, these are the steps I take to combat it – try them out and see if they help you too 🙂

  1. I gather ‘evidence’ that proves the opposite, whether it’s similar things I’ve done in the past that have gone well, compliments people paid me, or if it’s something new, remembering when I first did something and look where I am now 🙂
  2. Keep a daily ‘diary’ that I log 1 thing I did well that day that I can come back to and reference when I’ve lost my way 🙂
  3. Make a plan to eliminate all the things I’m feeling most vulnerable about 🙂
  4. I ask myself – If I go ahead with this:
    a. what’s the worst that could happen?
    b. does it really matter?

I’ve found picking out one of these options often helps if not eliminate that feeling of being a charlatan right away, but a combo of 2 or 3 will obliterate it!

Let me know how you get on 🙂 x
